Judging a book by its cover
A redesign of the book cover of Essays on Love by Alain De Botton.
The redesign is focused on using just typography to convey characteristics of the book. While the original cover is imagery heavy, the redesign tries to subtly reveal the conversation-centric theme of the story. Botton painstakingly captures the minutiae conversations and feelings of two people that fall in and out of love, leaving the reader pondering about the details of his/her relationships during the pauses and hesitancies of the characters' conversations. The redesign strives to capture the words that fall short and the ones that spiral out of control and can't be taken back in Botton's love story.
